Our Aims and Mission Statement

The Guild of Location Managers is a UK-based non-profit organisation of professional Location Managers working within the film, stills, television, advertising and event industries.

It was formed by a group of Location Managers anxious to maintain standards of professionalism within the industry with regard to filming on location. Membership of the Guild may be taken as evidence of a level of experience and a responsible, long-term approach to location management.

Membership of the Guild also entitles the location manager to a photo ID card. Their identity can be verified by location owners, against a list of members held on file by Film Commissions in the UK.

We are recognised by the UK Film Council and regional film commissions throughout the UK. As membership is steadily rising, we can claim with some justification to be the only body to represent the views of freelance location managers in all areas of our craft.

Our aims are as follows:

  • To provide a talking shop where members can exchange views and information.
  • To promote professionalism and responsible working practices amongst our members.
  • To further the reputation and understanding of the Location Manager's role both within the industry and outside it.
  • To promote and strengthen communication with those institutions with whom we work and to improve the perception by those bodies, of both the role of Location Manager and the industry in general.
