The Guild works hard to forge good relationships with regional screen agencies, borough film offices, individual locations and international film commissions.
Familiarisation trips enable screen agencies and locations to promote their region and all that it has to offer to the location manager. These visits also help us to build on working relationships across the industry.
Just some of these trips are featured below. We can only show a tiny selection of photographs, but if you would like more information on places seen, please contact the committee and we'll put you touch with those who attended the trips.

Newham - March 2011
Newham Film Office hosted an afternoon fam trip giving us a great overview of the borough and the wide selection of locations available. The borough plays host to the 2012 Olympics so is undergoing huge regeneration which will make it an area with great contemporary spaces to sit along side its industrial heritage. With a range of parks, open spaces and dense residential neighbourhoods, it's a very diverse destination. Thank you to Sue and David for a fascinating visit. Discover more here.

Screen East led a familiarisation trip in March to showcase the wealth of locations

illustrated how the county is not only an ideal destination for filming, but it
also offers a genuine alternative for productions wanting to film close to the
M25 and away from the expense of shooting in the capital. Link to the full story here

Liguria is the coastal region of north-west Italy, its capital being Genoa. With high mountain regions, picturesque towns, dramatic coastline and a capital city with steep narrow alleys, patrician palaces, European elegance and a bustling seaport, Liguria is place of contrasts. A huge "grazie mille" to all at Genova Liguria Film Commission.

Ricardo lent back in his chair and squinted through the haze of the smoke from his Robusto, pleased with his days writing. He stepped out into narrow streets, the bell from the tram echoing in the distance and headed down the steep steps to meet Roberto and Miguel. A glass of Ginja to celebrate and full of hope that his works would soon be published. And they were..
