The Guild of Location Managers host a quarterly general meeting which is open to all our members. We endeavour to hold these meetings at different venues in the capital. We have been very fortunate to have kind hospitality from a variety of venues and locations.

A London nightclub at the forefront of the global dance music scene the club has five main areas with a specially built roof to contain sound and a sprung floor to save dancers from tiring. Set in 196 acres of parkland with panoramic views of the capital, Alexandra Palace is a breath-taking venue with lots of hidden of secrets. Opened in 1873 the venue has many original features remaining and offers 13,000sqm of filming space including The Palm Court, huge pillar free halls, an ice rink and boating pond to name a few locations. The boardroom, set in the corner of the building, gives a panoramic view across the River Thames with with Tower Bridge to the right, HMS Belfast below and London Bridge to the left. Our thanks to Andrew Pavord of Southwark Film Office and Visit London for this truly London venue.
The V&A is the world's largest museum of decorative arts and design, housing a permanent collection of over 4.5 million objects. It offers a unique setting for filming and photography with impressive galleries, staircases, period rooms and a landscaped garden to name a few locations. Situated on Bankside and designed by Allies and Morrison, the award-winning architectural practice also responsible for the Royal Festival Hall New Building and the BBC Media Village. A place of leafy quiet seclusion in the middle of the City, it has a rich and varied history as a Carthusian Monastery, Tudor mansion and Jacobean hospital. The Foundling Museum tells the story of the Foundling Hospital, London's first home for abandoned children and of three major figures in British History; its campaigning founder the philanthropist Thomas Coram, the artist William Hogarth and the composer George Frederic Handel. Located in Central London on the South Bank of the Thames, London Marriott Hotel County Hall has breathtaking views and is opposite Big Ben and the House of Parliament. Originally used as the seat of government, the Marriott has been restored yet has kept its beautiful architecture, from the towering bronze doors to the polished marbled floors.

Sadly no longer available as a location, this building was transformed into a state of the art office space by Land Securities, one of the largest property developers in the UK, and is now occupied by the Metropolitan Police. Thanks to Mark Hughes-Webb, now of Space 2, for introducing us to this building at the time.
Not forgetting the many, many meetings held in various offices at Film London with location managers crammed in all corners shouting over the noise from the traffic below. Good fun was had by all as wine was eeked out among the crowd and nuts and crips noisely chomped to stave off hunger. Special thanks as ever to the lovely Anna Faithful who invariably stayed late to lock up after us.
