Grosvenor House - Park Lane - London

Originally built as a private home for the Grosvenor family Grosvenor House, London's largest 5-star hotel, opened its doors to the public in May 1929. It soon became the destination hotel for a glamorous crowd whilst retaining an intimate warmth for its many transatlantic guests. The hotel's Great Room, originally built as an ice rink, is well known for a myriad of glamorous events including the BAFTAs and annual Art & Antiques Fair. With its imposing forecourt graced by the original Lutyens wrought iron gates, striking hotel reception and intimate library, guests are introduced to the approachable elegance that extends throughout richly appointed guest rooms, palatial suites and Executive level rooms to lavish public spaces. The room renovation is complete. A new spa-fitness-pool area will open in late 2010.

Filming news from Alison Simmons at Grosvenor House

Last Chance Harvey is a film for new British Director Joel Hopkins. It stars Dustin Hoffman, Emma Thompson and James Brolin who, in the movie, are all over in London for the Wedding of Dustin Hoffman's daughter in the film. Where better to have the Wedding than in the Ballroom at Grosvenor House on Park Lane, a quintessentially British hotel in the heart of Mayfair at one of London's best addresses.

Grosvenor House is very film friendly and we have been the location for quite a few television filmings, however it has been quite a while since we had a big screen movie shot at our property. After six days shooting the Wedding party in the Ballroom, the crew moved to a guest corridor for a few hours filming a scene with Dustin Hoffman. The crew took most of the day to set up the final scene, two large helium balloons containing lights were floated over the forecourt, which proved a little tricky as it was a fairly windy evening. As you will see from the photographs we then closed down the forecourt for approximately 4-5 hours to film the farewell scene.

It was great fun and the entire crew were great fun to work with. We all look forward to seeing Last Chance Harvey on the big screen.
